How to convert kilocalories (kcal) to calories (cal).
A small calorie is the energy required to raise 1 gram of water by 1°C at a pressure of 1 atmosphere.
Large Calorie (cal) is the energy required to raise 1 kg of water by 1 degree Celsius at a pressure of 1 atmosphere.
The large calorie is also called the food calorie and is used as a unit of food energy.
A large food calorie is equal to 1 small kcal:
2 Cal = 2 kcal
The energy in a large calorie (cal) is equal to the energy in a small kilocalorie (kcal):
E(Cal) = E(kcal)
Example 1
Convert 5 kcal to big calories:
E(Cal) = 5 kcal = 5 Cal
Example 2
Convert 7 kcal to big calories:
E(Cal) = 7 kcal = 7 Cal
Example 3
Convert 10 kcal to big calories:
E(Cal) = 10 kcal = 10 Cal
Example 4
Convert 15 kcal to big calories:
E(Cal) = 15 kcal = 15 Cal
2 kcal = 2000 cal
Energy in small calories (calories) is equal to 1000 times the energy in small kilocalories (kcal):
E(cal) = 1000 × E(kcal)
Example 1
Convert 2 kcal to small calories:
E(cal) = 1000 × 2kcal = 2000 cal
Example 2
Convert 4 kcal to small calories:
E(cal) = 1000 × 4kcal = 4000 cal
Example 3
Convert 8 kcal to small calories:
E(cal) = 1000 × 8kcal = 8000 cal
Example 4
Convert 10 kcal to small calories:
E(cal) = 1000 × 10kcal = 10.000 cal
