How to convert apparent power from kilovolt-amps (kVA) to volt-amps (VA).

kVA to VA calculation formula

The apparent power S in volt-amps (VA) is equal to 1000 times the apparent power S in kilovolt-amps (kVA):

S(VA) =  1000 × S(kVA)

 

So volt-amps are equal to 1000 times kilovolt-amps:

VA = 1000 × kilovolt-amps

or

VA = 1000 × kVA

What is the apparent power in volt-amps when the apparent power in kilovolt-amps is 4 kVA?

Solution:

S = 1000 × 4kVA = 4000VA

Example 2

What is the apparent power in volt-amps when the apparent power in kilovolt-amps is 40 kVA?

Solution:

S = 1000 × 40kVA = 40000VA

Example 3

What is the apparent power in volt-amps when the apparent power in kilovolt-amps is 50 kVA?

Solution:

S = 1000 × 50kVA = 50000VA

Example 4

What is the apparent power in volt-amps when the apparent power in kilovolt-amps is 100 kVA?

Solution:

S = 1000 × 100kVA = 100000VA

Example 5

What is the apparent power in volt-amps when the apparent power in kilovolt-amps is 200 kVA?

Solution:

S = 1000 × 200kVA = 200000VA
